2nd Living Soil Workshop 1
March 21, 2020

You can’t grow healthy plants unless you create healthy soil, and that is not possible without a sufficiently diverse and complex soil food web fed and sustained by regular applications of nutrient rich organic material over the entire length of the growing season.
Unfortunately traditional compost made from kitchen/yard wastes, manure and other organic inputs isn’t suitable for creating living soil because it lacks the fungus species and specialized bacteria known as bio-fertilizers.
Living soil gardening begins by reintroducing the right bacteria and fungi into soil which facilitate rapid nutrient cycling in depleted and marginal soils and can be likened to eating yogurt in order to restore the right microbiota deep in your digestive tract.
Living soil gardening has its roots in Asian natural farming. Japanese and Korean farmers developed ways of collecting and culturing beneficial bacteria and fungus found in the soil food webs of natural grasslands and forests.
This allowed them to create exceptionally fertile soil with highly complex soil food webs which they enhanced with regular additions of fermented organic waste known as Bokashi.
Bokashi has made its way from the farms and fields of Asia into the household kitchens and compost piles of North America where it is fast becoming a favourite way for home gardeners to quickly compost any type of food and yard waste including meat, bones and dairy and create exceptional garden soil.
Best of all bokashi composting doesn't attract rats, mice or flies because it is fermented not rotten.
When you attend Our Workshop you receive the following products for free with complete instructions.
